Common questions

What's free, and what does Pro add?

The free tier is a full feet-inch-fraction calculator — all the dimensional arithmetic and every unit conversion, forever, with fractions shown to 1/16. TapeMath Pro ($14.99 once) adds the trade functions (rafters, stairs, studs on-center, board feet, pitch), the paperless tape history, and finer fraction resolutions — 1/32 and 1/64. Free stays free; Pro is a one-time unlock, never a subscription.

I bought Pro on my old phone.

Go to Settings → Restore Purchases. It signs the unlock back in on any device using the same Apple ID. There's no account to log into — the purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to us.

How do I change the fraction resolution?

Settings → Fraction resolution. Free shows results to 1/16. With Pro you can switch to 1/32 or 1/64 for finish work. The display rounds to the nearest tick at your chosen resolution — the math underneath stays exact either way.

Why does it calculate the way it does?

TapeMath uses chain logic — it evaluates key by key in the order you press them, the same way the physical construction calculators tradesmen already know work. That's deliberate: your thumbs already have the rhythm, so the answers land where you expect. Every function is validated line-by-line against 150+ published worked examples, so a rafter or stair result matches the calculator on your belt.

Is my data backed up anywhere?

No — everything stays on your device by design. There's no account, no cloud, no server. If you delete the app, its tape history and settings go with it.

Refunds

Purchases run through Apple, so refunds do too: reportaproblem.apple.com. If a result ever looks wrong, email us first with the keystrokes — we'll check it against the worked examples and make it right.
